Help Prevent Canine Lyme Disease Tour

Share

I am like Bill Joel, I am on tour – talking about Lyme disease on the Help Prevent Canine Lyme Disease Tour.  My partner on this tour is a giant tick dude.

I am right how (May 6) in Durham, NC where tonight we will be parked outside where the Durham Bulls play baseball from about 5 to 8 p.m. Am happy to talk ticks, Lyme disease and most of all prevention with anyone who stops by. I’ve never seen the Durham Bulls play, am looking forward to that!

May 8 to 9 in Charlotte, NC and May 22-23. On May 23 from 10 a.m. to noon at Ramsey Creek Park (18441 Nanz Road, Cornelius, NC).  The good news is that I won’t be giving away ticks – but I will be giving away information about ticks, and how to protect our dogs.

May 23 at the Dog Bowl in Frankenmuth, MI. from 10 p.m. to 2 p.m. Here is how the Dog Bowl is described:

A high energy event that showcases dogs running, jumping, diving, and retrieving! Located in Frankenmuth River Place Shops. Lots of great events: Best Costume Contest, 50 yard Doggie Fun Run, Disc Dog Competitions, Wiener Dog Races, Pet Retail Vendors, Dog Bowl King and Queen, Dog Breeds of the World Show, Annual Canine Cruise of the Bavarian Belle River Boat, DockDogs Competition and Hot Air Balloons.

Listen HERE to Dr. Carrie White on tick disease on Steve Dale’s Pet World.

Each local veterinary professional will operate out of our mobile health clinic, which is equipped with a giant inflatable tick for two different reasons:

  1. To catch the attention of pet owners! Ticks are nasty little things, but most of them are so small that sometimes it’s hard to see just how threatening they really are.
  2. To get people thinking about Lyme disease and its effect on their dogs. Since its discovery in dogs in 1984, Lyme disease has been spreading geographically. Veterinarians will explain the preventative measures that pet owners can take and the increasing risks associated with Lyme disease.

Stop by to check out the giant tick and to learn more about protecting your pets from Lyme disease.
