Animal Control Director with Steve Dale WGN, and Brilliant Dr. Dunbar

Steve Dale’s Pet World features the first radio interview with Sandra Alfred, executive director of Chicago’s Animal Care and Control at 1:05 p.m. CDT. There’s tons to talk about, as Sandra took over – frankly a mess – and now has CACC moving in the right direction.  Alfred is also the current President of  the Chicago Animal Shelter Alliance.

I receive calls and emails all the time, asking ‘how can i help the city shelter?’ The answer is to volunteer – which is something we’ll talk about….It’s also to show for  Big Night – a celebrity chef event led by chef Jackie Shen. The Big Night benefit is September 26, 6:30 p.m. at the Chicago Cultural Center (Preston Bradley Hall), 78 E. Washington St.  Lots and lots to eat. And you will help Chicago’s most needy animals. Advance tickets are $100. Go HERE, or call 312-224-1116. The emcee will be Jim Rose from Ch. 7 and his wife, lifestyle design expert Lakesha Rose. Among the many silent auction items, tickets to see Conan O’Brien. The event is hosted by Friends of Animal Care and Control.

1:33,    Dr. Ian Dunbar  happens to be in town – lecturing a full day,  The Dominance Myth: Fearfulness, Reactivity & Aggression in Dogs,” at the  Anti Cruelty Society, Chicago (LaSalle St. at Grand Ave.).. He’ll take time off to wander by the studio and speak with us. This is an absolute treat for me, as it will be for you. His science-based take on dog training is the real-deal. After all, this is dude who began to concept for puppy classes!  More on Dr. Dunbar in Chicago here.

2:05: Animal news – A Mayor attacked by a dog.

Then in my last show at this time slot, I will talk to you – take your calls 312-981-7200 or text 24-720.

Starting next weekend, I am on Sunday with my show, Steve Dale’s Pet World at 6:30 AM (CDT). Appear Sunday’s on Bill Moller (when there is no baseball, 2 to 3 p.m.), and with Bill Leff and Wendy Snyder, 10:30 to 11:30 AM. Here’s more on my WGN schedule.
