Animal Control Needs Loving Homes
Come one, come all to Chicago Animal Care and Control (CACC) on Saturday, June 17, for an Adopt-A-Thon and open house at 2741 S. Western Ave.
Your help and love are needed to adopt homeless animals. Right now, too many animals are being given up.
MISTAKE PEOPLE MAKE: CACC must, by law, take in any animal offered to them. Period. Same for open intake facilities all over the country. Don’t blame the shelter staff for people giving up animals. Don’t necessarily blame the people, either. Sometimes they have no choice, and the community doesn’t provide alternatives. For example, it is possible that it’s really hard to find rental space if you have a large dog, especially one that looks like a pit bull, or if there’s spousal abuse and you want to get out; where does the pet go? The animals have done nothing wrong.
Open House: 11:30 a.m. – 1 p.m.
Adopt-a-Thon: 1 – 6 p.m.
During the Adopt-A-Thon, fees will be waived (spread the word!)
The Open House will also show off completed renovations at CACC. Also, check this out:
- A short presentation on the most recent successes and challenges at CACC

- Kitten cuddle station
- DIY dog and cat toy station

Lets save some animals!
