Cats Can Get Seizures Too

Share

Cats can get seizures, who knew? Dr. Simon Platt, professor of neurology and neurosurgery at the University of Georgia College of Veterinary Medicine explains how seizures can be identified in cats on my national Steve Dale’s Pet World radio show. Seizures (like lots of other issues with cats) can fool us – and might even be so subtle that it’s hard to discern what’s going on.

Dr. Platt offers details about those seizures look like in cats. And some of what he describe here is very surprising.

Sometimes compulsive behaviors in cats can be mistaken for seizures or the other way around. And it’s important to know which of the two it is – since the medication for a behavior issue is very different than for seizures.

We also discuss what may cause feline seizures, and causes may range widely – which we discuss.
