Cesar Millan's Song & Dance Routine

Not sure what the Dog Whisperer will be doing at the Rosemont Theatre, apparently his usual song and dance routine. I obviously haven’t seen the show yet, but from all accounts it reminds me of the days when “preachers” would go from town to town “healing” people with their magic touch. Were they really healing? If you still don’t get enough of the real Cesar, soon a sitcom will air with a funny Cesar.

I agree with some of what Millan says, but so much of what he preaches is actually downright dangerous. It’s one thing to be a good teacher for our best friends, but domestic dogs don’t require an alpha – not in the way Millan describes. The American Veterinary Society of Animal Behavior, American Humane Association, International Association of Animal Behavior Consultants and American College of Veterinary Behaviorists all agree, motivation and positive reinforcement works best to train dogs. Also, dogs are decidedly not wolves, any more than we are chimpanzees.
