Clinical Trial Using Stem Cells for Stomatitis

Share
Lately I’ve been talking a lot about clinical trials. Here’s an opportunity for cats with a disease of the mouth in cats, called Feline Chronic Gingivostomatitis (FCGS) or just plain stomatitis. If that is your cat, listen up and consider this clinical trial.
This disease in painful and without a magic pill.
Dr. Chad Maki, stem cell researcher and chief medical officer VetCell Therapeutics USA explains on my national Steve Dale’s Pet World radio show what stomatitis in cats is and which cats may likely be eligible for this stem cell trial.
The Winn Feline Foundation made what is happening here possible by funding initial studies for stomatitis in cats, and stem cell treatment.
It is generally believed that cats with FCGS have an altered immune state which permits and perpetuates the condition. Both inadequate and excessive immune responses have been implicated but this immune disease isn’t yet fully understood.
