Decoding Your Dog: Dog Behavior Event Anti Cruelty Society

Dog behavior is so often misunderstood, and that is one reason by the American College of Veterinary Behaviorists authored their first ever book for the general public, called “Decoding Your Dog: The Ultimate Experts Explain Common Dog Behaviors and Reveal How to Prevent or Change Unwanted Ones.”

The first book signing for “Decoding Your Dog” will be held January 26 at the Anti Cruelty Society, Chicago (157 W. Grand Ave. at LaSalle St.). 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. More than a book signing, this is an educational event – meant for both professionals and dog owners who want to better “read” their best friends, and better understand dog behavior, in general.

Two of the book’s editors, veterinary behaviorist Dr. John Ciribassi and certified animal behavior consultant Steve Dale will speak, answer your questions and sign books.

So, what is your dog trying to tell you? Dr. Ciribassi’s entertaining presentation will show you its not always what you think. Even canine professionals may sometimes bee fooled. Ciribassi will indeed ‘decode’ dogs. Like a Rosetta Stone for Dogs, you will speak dog as a second language.

Dale will discuss how to enrich your dog’s life and offer  ideas on how to entertain your pup’s mind and body. While giving dogs jobs and offering enrichment year-round is important, he’ll offer tips on what you can do to keep dog entertained inside when it’s too cold and/or snowy to spend much time outside, hopefully preventing stir crazy dogs. According to Dale all dogs need a job, and providing one may prevent behavior problems.

Both these talks are versions of those given at veterinary and shelter conferences.

Anti Cruelty Society promises an entertaining and educational event….and all while raising some money for the shelter – which is where the $20 admission is donated (tax deductible). Sure better than $20 going to parking – parking at the Anti Cruelty Society is free. This event will also help to kick off the 115th year celebration of the Anti Cruelty Society (Chicago’s oldest shelter).
