Dog Behavior Decoded, American College of Veterinary Behaviorists
Dog behavior is both enigmatic and powerful – when perceived out of control and if the behavior causes the human/animal bond to fracture, the dog is at risk for relinquishment. Those who work at animal shelters do know how often this occurs. The American College of Veterinary Behaviorists wrote the first (and only) book of its kind, far more than a training guide (which there are many out there), it’s about promoting the behaviors we want to see, and what to do when a dog does have separation anxiety or is aggressive to other dogs. I was an editor of this book with veterinary behaviorists Dr. Debra Horwitz and Dr. John Ciribassi. Here’s is our first review, it’s from wonderful the Bark magazine. I am so proud that the first review happened to come from this publication which I so personally admire, kind of like a New Yorker for real dog lovers.
