Dog Stars in Super Bowl Commercial: Supports Hemangiosarcoma Cancer Research
This is a review of an inspirational Super Bowl commercial about what cutting edge veterinary medicine can do today. Who would have ever that University of Wisconsin School of Veterinary Medicine would ever be featured in a Super Bowl commercial?
Scout’s incredible story is told in more detail here:
This story rings especially true for our family, as our mixed breed dog Ethel recently suffered a similar sudden prognosis, hemangioscarcoma. Her tumor was on her spleen, but she was bleeding out so quickly that there was no decision – except one – to be made. Golden Retrievers are indeed over represented among dogs that this can and does happen, although hemangiosarcoma can happen to any dog of any breed or mix, and unlike many cancers which effect mostly geriatrics, this cancer often suddenly occurs to young and otherwise healthy individuals. This video depicts the human/animal bond,. and what cutting edge medicine can do. Veterinarians are amazing, but then so are the dogs (and other animals) they treat.
If you’re touched by Scout’s story, consider giving to the Morris Animal Foundation Golden Retriever Lifetime Study or University of Wisconsin School of Veterinary Medicine to continue their research.
