Fleas Allergies Are Nasty, But Can Be Avoided


Fleas cause scratching, which can cause the most common pet allergy, according to veterinary parasitologist Dr. Michael Dryden, Kansas State University College of Veterinary Medicine. Flea allergy dermatitis is when fleas inject a protein with each bite which cause what might be a severe allergic response in dogs and cats. Infection may also follow. Avoid it all by avoiding fleas, and Dr. Dryden tells us how.

Fleas also transmit bartonella, and tapeworm.
