Halloween Fun for Pets
Halloween fun is about dressing all the children, including those with four legs. More than 4.2 million dog-owning households and nearly two million cat-caretakers will be treating their furry companions to ghoulish goodies and grisly toys this Halloween, according to the National Retail Federation (NRF).
Many Halloween costume contests and events for dressed up pets are happening around the country. Here are two happening in the Chicago area.
October 6 and 7: Mercury Chicago’s Skyline Cruiseline Canine Cruise final weekend will feature all dogs, but especially those who happen to be in costume. There will even be special prizes for dogs in costume. The canine cruise is a kind of architecture cruise on the Chicago River and Lake Michigan, and it is very dog friendly and began over 10 years ago. This 10:15 a..m. cruise can sell out, purchase tickets here.
October 6: Pet Halloween Fashion Show and contest at Chalet, 3132 Lake Avenue, Wilmette, IL celebrates a new Pet Living Center, and pets dressed for their breed. For example, a Scottish Terrier in kilts or perhaps a patriotic Boston Terrier wearing red, white and blue. The Halloween pet parade, which I am a judge, begins at 10 a.m. Throughout the day there will be various other pet-related seminars and events.
