Hunting Lion and Other Animals, And Bringing Back 'Trophies'

U S. will propose a law to limit the kinds of “trophies” hunters can take back with them from other nations. Listen HERE to my conversation with U.S. Congressman (5th District U.S. House of Representatives) Mike Quigley on Steve Dale’s Pet World, WGN radio.

I suggest it should not be legal for these animal “trophies,” such as the lion head, to be brought back from other nations to the U.S. And the U.S. House proposed bill with prevent any airline from transporting, or by ship. Quigley wants the African lion to be added to the endangered species list. Quigley points out that the U.S. is the largest importer currently of African lion trophies.

I suggest, while we have no lion or leopard or cheetah in Illinois – or the U.S. – we do have bobcat. And Illinois just allowed for the hunting of these smaller wild cats. I suggest America have a list of ‘heritage species,’ which can’t legally be hunted.
