Protect Pets from Ticks this Fall

Lyme disease can be transmitted to dogs at anytime of year, but fall is actually when dogs thought to be most susceptible. So, even if you live north, don’t stop using that tick disease product quite yet. The American Veterinary Medical Association (AVMA) now advises clients with dogs diagnosed with Lyme to see their pediatrician and/or doctor. And the American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) is advising the same; when a child is diagnosed with Lyme, if there’s a dog in the family to see the veterinarian. Tick disease isn’t transmitted from dogs to people (or people to dogs), but by sharing the same environments – whether it’s the backyard or back woods – we share susceptibility. Learn more about the partnership between the AVMA and AAP.
