Scoop At the American Humane Association

Since a part of the American Humane Association mission is animal welfare – it’s just perfect that I have a scoop. And this is a scoop which I am incredibly proud and excited to announce.

Dr. Robin Ganzert

Robin Ganzert Ph.D., has been named the American Humane Association Chief Executive Officer and President, effective October 1, 2010.  Dr. Ganzert currently serves as Deputy Director of Philanthropic Services at the Pew Charitable Trusts in Washington D.C.

“Robin brings an unparalleled combination of energy, professional reputation and nonprofit management ability toward achieving our mission to ensure that all children and animals are free from abuse, cruelty and neglect,” says American Humane Association Chairman David Gies.

Dr. Ganzert will replace interim President and CEO George C. Casey, whose leadership has been inspiring to me personally, as a director on the Board at American Humane Association and to the entire organization. I’ve never met a faster learner in my life.

At Pew, Dr. Ganzert led a philanthropic investment team that provided advice and other strategic services for major foundations, corporations and high-net-worth individuals.  Previously, she directed non-profit business activities and high-end charitable gift planning as Senior Vice President and National Director of Philanthropic Strategies with Wachovia Wealth Management.

A featured speaker at philanthropy and wealth management events around the world, Dr. Ganzert is quoted frequented in news media. Her byline has appeared in lots of professional publications, including the  Journal of Financial Planning, the Philanthropy Journal and Advancing Philanthropy

Dr. Ganzert received her BS and MBA degrees from Wake Forest University, and her doctorate from the University of North Carolina-Greensboro. Not too shabby, she holds FIVE professional financial management and accounting certifications.

Since 1877, the historic American Humane Association has been at the forefront of every major advancement in protecting children, pets and other animals from cruelty and abuse. Today, American Humane is the nation’s Main Street voice for child and animal welfare, and taking what we know about children and pets living together to the next level, forwarding the advancements in human-animal interactions.
