Steve Dale and Bill and Wendy Go Wild for Gorillas, and Learn About Leptospirosis
I love being on the radio with Bill Leff and Wendy Snyder on WGN radio. I always have much to talk about, often commenting on my own blog posts. And that is just what I did here. Listen HERE as I kick off with World Gorilla Day, which was September 24.
I recall my experiences with the Mountain Gorillas in Rwanda, a spiritual experience. I answer Bill’s question about what not to do when meeting Mountain Gorillas.
It’s great that many shelters have taken dogs and cats from shelters in Texas and some from Florida, to make room in those local shelters for animals displaced due to the hurricanes. So, that’s really good. But I talk about how some animals are being relocated with heartworm, and also I explain leptospirosis. And I talk about why vaccinating for lepto is a good idea.
I also mention the 14th Annual Chicago Canine Rescue Mutt Strut, Oct. 7 Registration is now open . The Mutt Strut is a dog-friendly block party and 1.5 mile walk around Wrigleyville with snacks, contests, games, silent auction, raffle, prizes and more. This year’s theme is superheroes, so grab your mask and cape (and one for your pup), and sign up today to help raise life-saving funds the shelter pups – and often times dogs that no one else will take. Chicago Canine Rescue has saved over 6,100 dogs!
