Victoria Stilwell Saves South Korean Dogs from a Meat Market
Victoria Stilwell from Animal Planet’s It’s Me or the Dog, and the author of many books including – most recently – The Ultimate Guide to Raising a Puppy: How to Train and Care for Your New Dog discusses with candor her recent trip with Humane Society International (HSI) to a South Korean dog meat farm. The farmers wanted the help, The farmers, she says, want a better choice. And this is becoming a new trend in South Korea.
It is, however, tough to see the conditions that these dogs are kept in. And that’s horrible, not for the faint of heart. Stilwell explains how these dogs are able to find homes. They do depend on the U.S. or the UK or Canada. And we talk about the controversy regarding the dogs imported into the U.S. However, there are no other options for these dogs. Besides, the 50 to 150 or so dogs brought into the U.S. annually is a drop in the proverbial canine rescue bucket.
