Winn Feline Foundation Supports Candidate for Senate

The Winn Feline Foundation is pleased to announce its support for the Hank for Senate Campaign. Hank, who hails from Springfield VA and is running as an independent candidate for the U.S. Senate in Virginia, has been drawing increasing national attention for his simple message and winning ways on the campaign trail.

When asked about the endorsement, Chicago-based radio personality, columnist (Steve Dale’s PetWorld, Pet World Radio) and Winn Board member, Steve Dale, CABC, stated, “Winn would not normally enter into the claw your way to the top world of politics. As a non-profit foundation our focus is on raising awareness of the need for medical research specifically focused on cats, and we have been funding grants for that research since 1968.” Dale continued, “However, when we heard about Hank, we could not sit idly by and not throw our support to him as he conducts this groundbreaking campaign. Hank knows how to think outside the box, and hopefully inside the box even more often. We see Hank as an advocate for all the millions of cats and kittens without a voice in this country, and around the world”.

Winn Feline Foundation believes that as a Senator, Hank will attract much needed attention to the challenges that cats face especially in getting the preventive medical attention that their canine housemates regularly receive.

Winn President and veterinarian, Dr. Vicki Thayer, supports Hank’s position that cats are not second class citizens, and that cats should receive access to preventive healthcare through their local veterinarians on an ongoing basis. Cats are also under-insured, and their people forget about microchipping and protecting their cats from potentially deadlyheartworm disease – a risk even for indoor cats. Hank will be a voice for change for future feline policy.

Winn isn’t sure if Hank is an underdog or not, “Hank is clearly a cool cat who doesn’t waver on his positions. “Clearly Hank is a candidate who can be trusted,” Dale adds.

Hank is anxious to use his life story and ideas to help his community and his country aspire to greatness. He knows what it takes to overcome adversity. Hank’s been a fighter since his earliest days. Born to a single mother and living on the streets, Hank ultimately landed on all-fours. He even spent time in a shelter before being rescued with an adopted “brother” Sammy.

The Winn Feline Foundation is a non-profit organization established in 1968 that supports studies to improve cat health. Since 1968, the Winn Feline Foundation has funded over $3 million in health research for cats at more than 30 partner institutions world-wide. This funding is made possible through the support of dedicated donors and partners. Research supported by the Winn Feline Foundation helps veterinarians to improve treatment of common feline health problems and prevent many diseases. Grants are awarded twice yearly with the help of the foundation’s expert review panel.
